Description:
The Minimum Data Set Version 3.0 (MDS 3.0) was implementation by CMS for certified skilled nursing facilities across the nation on October 1, 2010. Because this version is drastically different than the MDS 2.0, facilities are continuing to train their entire disciplinary team in order to assure that they understand the MDS 3.0. The MDS plays a huge roll in facility reimbursement, survey outcomes, and quality measures available to the public - you cannot afford not to train your employees.

Because of the complexities of the MDS 3.0, a comprehensive two-day training program has been developed. MDS 3.0 began in October of 2010, with a new RAI manual and many changes in coding and data collected. This will be a line-by-line education for staff actually completing the MDS, review of how MDS forms have changed, and changes on how to collect the data for the MDS. The changes to the submission of the MDS will also be covered during the program.

This education will guide attendees through the process changes to achieve a successful transition to MDS 3.0, ensuring proper reimbursement, optimal outcomes, and quality care.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify how to complete each section of the MDS 3.0.
2. Identify interviewing techniques and how data is collected.
3. Identify supplement documentation required to validate MDS data.
