Description
 This two-day course will help prepare eligible nurses to become instructors for the Medicaid nurse aide training program. It will provide classroom and demonstration experiences to assist the nurse in becoming a better teacher of nurse aides. The course will cover philosophy, course preparation, learning styles of students, areas of knowledge, performance and training techniques, use of lesson plans, instructional methods, and use of instructional aids. There will also be an in-depth discussion of how to use the nurse aide curriculum developed by the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services. Nurse aide training must be performed by or under the general supervision of a registered nurse who has a minimum of 2 years experience, at least one of which is in the provision of long term care services. Directors of Nurse Aide Training should attend this training.

Prior to the class, participants should review Mosby's 6th edition for the Nursing Assistant textbook by Sorrention & Gorek  and workbook (to find your facility's sales representative call 800-222-9570 or customer service 800-545-2522), and bring the textbook and workbook to class, along with any teaching aids needed to conduct one demonstration and one informative mini-lesson.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and may be faxed or mailed to KAHCF. Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than February 7th will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between February 8th and February 14th will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
