Description of Seminar
This 36-hour state approved course satisfies the requirements to “qualify” as an Activity Professional in a long term care facility. The course will be taught by a variety of experts that include Activity Directors currently working in Kentucky long term care facilities whose combined experience exceeds 50 years. Additionally, the agenda will include a full day of training by a member of NAAP (National Association of Activity Professionals).

This 5-day program offers an in-depth study of resident and activity programming for their special needs. It will include a review of the MDS 3.0 and Section N and Care Planning Process for the Activity Director. This program is designed to prepare the participants to function ethically and effectively in the prevailing health care climate. A “Certificate of Completion” will be awarded to participants who complete the course.

This program is designed to help the activity professional –
• Understand the aging process
• Understand the role, purpose, and scope of activities programming
• Review the Activities & Psychosocial Severity Guidance
• Acquire an understanding of required documentation
• Learn how to navigate the MDS 3.0
• Plan and/or arrange activities for residents that meet the individual’s need
• Virtual dementia Training (VDT)
• Building the activity calendar
• Challenging Behaviors
• Public Relations

Participants will also receive federal, state, and long term care news updates, as well as networking opportunities.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and may be faxed or mailed to KAHCF. Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than March 11th will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between March 12th and March 18th will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
